The FairLife Debt Recovery Mark has been created to help people who are struggling with problem debt. The primary reason for launching a Mark in debt recovery is to ensure that customers' debt is kept within the FairLife Family regardless of how many times their debt is purchased or how many debt recovery firms are involved.
Consumers struggling with debt often have multiple creditors and the experience of debts being passed onto other companies can be very confusing, especially for the vulnerable. It is hoped that consumers will be reassured when the companies they deal with display the FairLife Mark and that this will offer some consistency when they are contacted by an unfamiliar company.
Firms carrying the Mark today are demonstrating, in a highly visible manner, their commitment to putting the wellbeing of the public at the heart of their business. The scope and effectiveness of the Mark may increase over time.
Organisations across the country will be encouraged by the FairLife Foundation, its Trustees, supporters and underlying charities to issue FairLife debt (or FairLife marked debt). In doing so the organisation is committing to abide by FairLife’s debt recovery criteria, and to only pass on or sell the debt to other likeminded groups. FairLife’s debt recovery criteria seek to ensure that customers are treated fairly and that the vulnerable are protected.
